Kate on Dancing With The Stars' New Season

It's just been officially anounced on ABC-TV that Kate will be on this season's Dancing With The Stars. She was the last one named in the lineup and will be on with such stars as Shannon Doherty and NFL star Chad Ochocinco. One final dancer is yet to be announced for the tenth season of the show, which will debut March 22.

Kate will be Jimmie Kimmel Live tonight so that will probably be a good place to get the scoop on this one, right from the horse's mouth, so to speak.

Just announced: The final contestant on DWTS with be Jake Povelka, the bachelor in the season that ended tonight.

Werny Gal: I am so excited to see who she will be paired with and the expression on their face when they find out they are being relocated to Berks County so that Kate can be near her kids!

That's pretty funny, NDM, and would't it be ironic if they leave their wife and kids to come here so Kate doesn't have to leave her kids?

I don't usually watch DWTS but I think I might actually have to watch this season.

One thing's for sure, she's going to get into great shape. Talk about a workout!

Attention Facebook users - Here is a new facebook page to vote Kate off of DWTS.

Lauren- why are you so negative? Why watch a show with the purpose of voting someone off? Can't you watch and vote for your favorites because they are your favorites and doing well? Geez, let Kate dance if she is given the opportunity and wants to. Why take it all so personally. I don't get it.

Maybe some Hollywood glamour will be coming to Wernersville?

I'm not a huge fan of Kate but hey, if dancing makes her happy, gets her in shape and brings in some income, I think it's great. She's practicing here in Berks County where she lives so she can be home with her kids, and will only be going to LA for show tapings. To me it's the best of all worlds because she's getting to do the glam thing she loves and also be home with the eight.

I agree Werny Gal. I swear some folks won't be happy until Kate is living in a tent somewhere in the hills with no money, no kids, nothing. She will be making a lot of money on DWTS to support the family (is Jon contributing anything to the family? I don't think so.) and the kids are not involved. So whats the problem? The problem is that some folks just want to spew hate at Kate. SOMEONE in that family needs to make a living. And I think Kate is doing a fine job.

jojo, I think you're wrong about Jon helping support his children. Jon is under contract with TLC which I would assume means he's getting paid. I can't imagine he settled and agreed to no compensation, but I guess I could be wrong. Do you know otherwise?

I'm also guessing since he is under contract like before, TLC has to approve any outside job or interview he takes. That kind of limits him to making much money outside TLC compensation. If Jon wasn't paying the hefty child support payments as ordered by the court, I'm sure someone would be dragging his butt in front of the judge. I know Jon did some idiot things in the past but he's been fairly quiet recently, probably because of the settlement. He's also been home with kids for the past week+ while Kate has been in LA. I have no doubt he loves his kids and they love him.

What would you have him do differently right now? I don't know why some feel it necessary to talk about Jon as if he's doing absolutely nothing to help support that family, because I just don't think that's true or we would hear about it. Kate didn't hesitate to go on national TV when she had a purse full of bills to pay.

As far as DWTS, I've heard Kate will be gone 3 days a week to taping in LA and working from home or the local studio the other days. It's good that she can be home with the kids some but let's face it, she's not going to have time for much of anything except rehearsing if she's serious about winning. That's just a known fact.

Even so, I don't begrudge her the opportunity if she will just keep the kids out of it. We'll see. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see those kids in front of a camera once again if TLC thinks they can sell Kate by using them.

If I'm wrong about any of the facts please correct me because I'm just trying to give my opinion based on what's known.

I really appreciate your comments, everyone.

Remember it was Jon who pulled the plug on the scam that was the Gosselin marriage. They had been unhappy for some time but Kate and TLC would have kept up the facade forever if Jon hadn't gotten sick of living the lie that they were happy, or even a couple at all. Although he then made some mistakes like letting Mr Happy out to play just a little too often and with little discretion, I think he deserves a lot of respect for having the integrity to stand up against TLC (well, and Kate too...imagine the Wrath of Kate, involving screams and putdowns which from what I've heard were pretty darn awful.) If Jon hadn't put his foot down we'd probably have future episodes with the kids going off to college in ten years. Money was certainly the root of that evil.

Thanks again for keeping this a fun and interesting place with your insights and opinions.

Itsaboutthekids- I havent heard anything about Jon earning any money but I will agree that doesnt make it fact. But even so, the point is that Kate has a legitimate way of making some big cash with DWTS and there are people on this board and others that are determined to ruin it in one way or another. Deliberateley trying to get her voted off because they dislike her is just plain wrong and spiteful. I don't understand that negative way of thinking. I am not a Kate fan but I get so tired of all the people that hate Kate just because she is Kate. So lame.

I don't think voting "against" someone rather than "for" someone is a new concept, it's something that's been around forever, but Kate does seem to polarize people.

I think it's safe to say there are zealots on both sides of this issue and none have the corner on being right. There are those who have already said they're going to vote FOR Kate for no other reason than to spite those voting against. And I've also heard many express that they already know who they're going to vote for, a favorite dancer/star. As far as I know, no one has seen any dancing yet to know who is the best. And recently I heard it doesn't matter because in the end the producers make the final decision. I don't know if it's true it's just more rumor going around. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

My objection is not so much that Kate is doing this as it is, don't sell it as being able to take care of your kids and do this at the same time, because there aren't enough hours in the day. Not that it's bad to take 3 months away, but don't insult our intelligence and try to sell the, "I can do it all" concept. Kate has shown us too many times that she is not supermom and always putting the kids first yet TLC is packaging her that way and I and many others are offended by that presentation. Actions, not words tell the story. I know many feel Kate is a great mom and that's okay, I just don't happen to be one of them.

presenting an 'image' of someone, whether it is fact or not is nothing new either. TLC wants a certain image of Kate. Also of the Duggar's, the Roloff's, the Little Couple and any of a dozen other people. But no one rants on any of them like they do Kate. The rabid hatred is wacko.

Werny gal and Itsabouthekids,
You both make valid points. Jon was NOT the one to cheat on Kate causing the divorce as most media outlets are reporting.
He does deserve some respect for taking a stance with TLC and not perpetuating the lie.
And no, we are not stupid enough to buy into the "can do Kate" image that is being forced upon us. Kate is still a human being. She is still the mother to 8 children who are still dealing with the loss of their parents marriage and with the loss of their privacy. They need some stability. No, I don't begrudge Kate some "me" time. Of course she needs to take time for herself to refresh and renew. However, she is practicing several hours a day, traveling 3 days a week cross country, making appearances, Women's shows, promoting her new book, etc.
When is she going to realistically find time to tuck 8 kids into bed, take them to the Dr., watch their soccer games, pack their lunches, read to them, help them with homework, play with them, take them to school, pick them up, etc.
Obviously she is going to need help but a nanny cannot take the place of a mother.
This has nothing to do with "well, plenty of single mothers travel, etc"
That's fine. This is about a woman who is setting an unrealistic bar for single mothers. No one can keep this schedule without letting something slip. She is a human being, not Santa Claus.

Kate's scedule is shaping up to the fact that she just hasn't alloted much time for the kids. Her choice, and I believe it's a bad choice, but don't try to sell it otherwise especially to the children.

The nannies will continue to be a big part of their lives in some way although I think Jon should have all the time he wants while Kate is away. On the other hand, once Jon is no longer under TLC contract he will need to make money to pay child support and to support himself in his own home and life. He does have his own expenses outside of the McMansion.

You can pay lip service to Kate being a great mother but I don't buy into all the hype. If you're a great mom you don't have to keep saying it over and over and swearing that you always put your kids first. You just do it, and Kate is not doing it. Do you know Danielle Steel has nine children wrote and published over 100 books, and never went on a promotional book tour because she wanted to stay home and take care of her children. It can be done if you truly make it a priority.

I love those who put Kate on a pedestal because they desire to be like her. Let's face it: Kate wants fame for herself and to maintain the lavish lifestyle to which she has become accustomed due to stepping on the backs of her children. Her children are secondary to her. Her actions all along have supported that statement.

There are plenty of other ways Kate could be "supporting her family", and they could live very comfortably in a smaller house. The kids could still go to private school. And much money could be saved on the hired help raising them if Kate once again surrounded herself with loving friends and family.

Her fifteen minutes will end someday. Then what? She better start planning for reality instead of this fairytale dream.

I would submit that Kate (and probably TLC) has now made this DWTS appearance NOT about dancing ability but about "vote for me because I'm a great mom and I represent you!" Now I have no problem intentionally voting AGAINST Kate Gosselin and her mommy values. You set the platform Kate, I'm just voting my conscience.

Kate Gosselin Asks Moms To Pool Votes

PHILADELPHIA - Kate Gosselin has a plan to win “Dancing With The Stars” and it has nothing to with her dancing skills, but with getting her mom fan base to flood phone lines..

Gosselin, 34, has told reporters she will use the mom fan base for “Jon & Kate Plus 8” to swamp the phone vote lines with votes for her.

“I have a team across the country planning to call in for me. We need every vote we can get,” she told Fox411. “There are patches of people everywhere. Tony’s kids and my kids assure us 11 votes!”

Despite the problems Kate and her ex-husband Jon Gosselin faced since May 2009, Kate Gosselin still has an established fan base across the country who are mostly moms. And the ABC dancing competition is all about who gets the most votes.

“The most powerful and exciting thing that has come from all the fame and notoriety is the camaraderie with mothers,” Gosselin told Fox. “I feel a uniting of moms everywhere. Moms all do the same job and I get so much from the mothers everywhere. There is so much support.”

On DWTS, the best dancer should win, just like on American Idol, the best singer should win. Caring more about winning through popularity votes rather than through actually earning the win displays poor sportsmanship.

I can't figure out where she gets all this Mom Support she gives claim to. It sure ain't from the people of Wernersville. Must be from people who don't actually know her or haven't had to intereact with her. Or figments of her imagination.

I am the mother of two, and I have one word for the thought of Kate representing me as a mother and that word is "EEWWWWWWWW!"

Thanks for the great link itsabout, I'm going to use this link to start a new discussion.

You're welcome, Werny Gal. I like to think those that admire Kate just don't know the whole story, but I think there's also many who just refuse to admit she could have duped them the way she did everyone in the beginning, and they continue defending her because it's what they want to believe. Unfortunately, IMO fame and fortune are her priority, the kids seem to be an afterthought and a means to her perceived stardom. I feel very sorry for the kids and I hope Jon has come around, settled down and will do what's right by them. I don't see it happening with Kate.

Wait, do you know Kate Gosselin? I mean, have you actually had a relationship with her (like actual neighbor, classmate, etc.)? I thought you didn't know her?

Mocha, who are you adressing your questions to, and what gave you the impression someone here knows Kate?
