Small Town Shopping Cart

As the world knows by now, Kate didn't do very well her first night on DWTS. She got the third lowest score, ahead of only the actor Aiden Turner (hubba hubba) and astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who is this season's oldest contestant.

I have to admit to feeling sorry for Kate after weeks of hearing her brag about how she was in it to win it. The humble fall hard, but the narcissistic crash and burn the hardest. IMO she appeared defensive and uncomfortable in the clips shown of her getting feedback from her partner during the practice sessions, and doubly so during the live feedback. Maybe it was the editing, but I didn't get the sense that she's been practicing as much as former "stars" on the show, which surprised me because she's such a perfectionist. And speaking of stars, it was noted on the show that she was the only contestant in history who isn't officially one. (Bet that was news to her. :) But Melissa Rycroft isn't a star and I'm sure there have been others too.

The star performer was Pamela Anderson, whose picture is next to the phrase Red Hot Sexy Babe in the dictionary. Whooeee, she had me hot and I'm straight and not even looking for love. To me she epitimized what good entertainment dancing is about, technically correct or not ~ letting loose and having fun. Looking that damn good doesn't hurt either. I hope she lasts 'til the end and I look forward to seeing what tricks she'll be up to as the season goes on.

In an unrelated vein, what was it with Brooke Burke's girls? Her implants were so torturous that their vertical edges could clearly be seen cutting ridges inside her chest. Girlfriend, you were beautiful to begin with. You don't need fake tatas to look pretty and you sure don't need them to appear intelligent. I suggest taking those superficial man pleasers out and using them for floatation devices in your Hollywood swimming pool, where they'll serve some purpose other than distracting from your lovely face.

Lastly, kudos to Jon for wishing Kate the best on the show. Maybe he meant it or maybe it was spin control, but either way it was a gracious gesture.

Hi Nancy, it's very hard to keep up with everything. I hardly ever get to post to my other blog anymore. Thanks for stopping by.

Werny Gal, what (if anything) are the locals saying about Kate's (super mother) image that her PR is trying to shove down America's throats?
It's amazing how someone who has such a reputation for being standoffish, rude and greedy could wind up with fans and people who admire her.
Any thoughts on this? Thanks :)

Werny Girl,
I know what you mean about keeping up. What is your other blog? I'd love to read it, if that would be OK with you. Also, I wanted to know if it would be ok with you if I posted links & articles from time to time with my responses?
If you'd rather I did not, it's fine. Talk again soon.
Nancy

Werny Gal, glad you're back. Missed you and glad all's well.
Never watched DWTS and sure won't start now. I did watch the vids of Pam, Nicole, and Wernersville's favorite daughter (gasp, cough, choke).
Pam was flashy, sassy, and looked like she was having a ball. Fun to watch. Nicole was classy and elegant. A vision wrapped in a waltz. Kate? Kate, Target is calling you. They have a cart with your name on it.

LOLOL! In case anyone missed it, one of the judges said watching Kate and her partner dance was like watching Kate's partner push a shopping cart around. What a hoot! I wonder if they (people like Simon Scowl, oops, I mean Cowell) have these quips written ahead of time and are just waiting for an opportunity to use them? That was a good one.

Thanks WG, for answering :) I know you must be very busy so I appreciate you taking the time.

I just don't understand how someone who has more estranged friends and family than not can become so hugely popular. It bothers me to no end that Kate Gosselin is what is being sold as a "supermom". She is supposed to now be a role model. Have we really lowered the bar so much in our society that a woman who verbally abused her husband for 3 years on television is now a hero?

Short story: My husband and I know a couple from high school who married the year before us. The husband has been serving in the military for 20 years. Him and his wife have 7 children. He is currently on his way to Afghanistan to serve. This is not new to them. He has been to Iraq (for most of one of his wife's pregnancies). The wife homeschools her 7 children and manages to make and sell organic herbal remedies, salves, etc. They live out in the country and have goats and chickens. This woman works her tail off and keeps the home rolling without the aid of bodyguards, nannies, chefs or $7000 extensions. OH and she doesn't have to tell the world she does it all for her kids. She lives by example.

(sorry, had to get that out ;) )

I'm sure that "America's Mommy" crap was made up by her publicist or someone like that, or she made it up herself because that's what she imagines herself to be. But as you point out, calling yourself that time after time on national television does not 1) make it true or 2) make others believe it. Since the beginning of the show and since the pooh started flying in the rags, how many positive or good things have we heard or seen about Kate? Has she ever given to charity, worked a charity event, or done anything for anyone that she didn't insist on getting paid for, and richly at that? And how many concrete examples of nastiness and entitlement? (rhetorical question: Many.) Say what you want about Jon but he's always been pleasant even under the worst circumstances and he's always been happy to work charity events for free. (I'm involved with one local agency that he agreed to do an event for, for free, but then the agency decided not to go further with it because of all the tabloid crap. But he would have been happy to do it.)

Kate is not getting good publicity regarding her treatment of the staff and fellow DWTS dancers. It seems she is imploding and is ignoring her kids with her focus on being a star. There are too many reports of it to not be true. It would be poetic justice that she brings herself down from her pedestal (that she has created in her mind) and ends up back to square one.

Kate is saying that her sister is home with the kids. I find this hard to believe!Do you have any information that this is true? She also said that she gets up at 5AM to make a casserole so the kids have something to eat LOL

I get up at 5 am to get the crock pot ready- why so funny that Kate might do something similiar? Again- just another pointless jab at Kate.

I don't know about a sister but she's always seemed to be not close to her family. Her father is a pastor (or was one, I'm not sure if he's still working there) at a church in Sinking Spring and Kate/the kids stopped going there after the church gave her a whole bunch of things for the babies that were often not good enough because they weren't designer or they weren't all six perfectly matchy-matchy. I heard she eventually asked her father to arrange for the church to pay some of their household expenses, at which time he drew the line and said No, you chose to have the kids, we have other parishioners who also have needs, and we have already given you many things. At that point Kate stopped going to that church and refused to let her parents see the kids anymore. I heard her parents haven't seen the kids in years because of this incident. I don't know anything about how close she is to her sisters but I doubt it. I don't think she's close to anyone in her family. That sister thing sounds like spin control to me.

About the cooking, fuggetaboutit. The new kitchen that was made for them free when they bought the big house in Werny boasts two restaurant quality ovens which, when the show was still being taped, she never used. She had organic-only catering brought into the house every day, paid for by TLC, and that's all they ate. Jon used to sneak through the Sinking Spring Wendy's drive-thru and get bags of fast food to take home to the kids when Kate wasn't home. I heard she doesn't and can't cook, but maybe she's had to get her ass, er, I mean her cooking skills in gear now that they're not taping anymore. I hope so for the kids' sakes. It's good for kids to see mommy and daddy cooking and have the kids help cook, and then all sit down and have a family meal together. That's an important part of being a family. The only meal I ever saw home cooked on the show (other than snacks or casual lunches) was when Jon made the Korean meal for the family. But I haven't seen every episode so if anyone knows more please add to this info.

Georgiamom said...

She did do an episode where she cooked soup, but like you, my impression is that most meals were catered by TLC. She was pictured with a sister or sisters at one of her book tour stops but the paps have never shown her family at the house. I am pretty sure she is lying about her sister taking care of the kids. The the picture I saw recently was a college age girl at the house.

The only plastic surgery I can be sure about is a boob job. They are obviously bigger. However, any magazine photos don't count with me because of all the airbrushing.

And JoJo, anyone who has a cook and/or nanny would not get up at 5a.m. to make a casserole. It's just doesn't make sense. And if you did make a casserole, wouldn't you make it the night before? Sorry, Kate Gosselin is a liar and what comes out of her mouth is for image.

It's great to see you posting again! I love the inside scoop, without all the drama.

I thought Pam Anderson was a great dancer. She deserved higher marks.

They showed grilling, organic marshmellow roasting (lol), soup, Korean food (daddy), a barbeque Italian bread pizza thing, clam bakes in NC, a famous American flag cake, and lots of pancakes. I'm not sure where the idea that Kate cannot cook comes from. She looks like she cooked ok to me.

I saw pics on FB of Kate and her sister. This is the sister who makes the jewelry. I believe that the sister might have come to stay with the kids for Kate's stay in LA. The way she said it on the interview seemed honest to me. I hope so anyway. Her brother seemed nice, so I guess I just imagine her sister wouldn't turn this favor down. JMO.

I also believe she gets up early now that she is working on her dancing. The kids go to school early, don't they WernyGal? Do you know what time they meet the bus? I have no idea if she's cooking then, but I would never cook the night before. It makes the meal 'leftovers' on the first night. I hate leftovers.

WernyGal do you ever visit the organic farmer that Kate went to on one of the last shows? He's an Amish guy? It looked like a neat place to buy veggies.

Werny Gal said...

Hi Mocha, thanks for the input, I appreciate it. At the risk of sounding like a total baffoon, what's FB? I don't know what time the little ones get on the bus and it may only be for the morning since they're still so young, but they definitely leave to go in the morning, not the afternoon. They go to a private Christian school, not public school. I can't say for sure but I have always thought they might go here:
http://www.lancastercountryday.org/
It's private, expensive, and supposed to be very good.

I haven't been to the farmer's but I've been to lots of the places they've shown on the show. Probably more places than I know about, since I haven't seen all of the episodes. I had to stop watching at one point because I couldn't stand seeing the way Kate treated Jon. In retrospect it was after the marriage was over, but before Jon outed them publicly.

Hi Werny Gal,
I have a question. It's been said on one of the blogs and we're trying to confirm a statement made that Kate advertised on a local radio station for a full time nanny. Did you hear anything about that?

Also now the tabs are saying Morgan and Jon have split. Have you heard anything about that?

Thanks for fielding questions and trying to keep the record straight for everyone.

Today's Radaronline shows Kate leaving for LA with Steve and his wife Gina staying behind to babysit. At least that's their story.

Have a great weekend!

IATK said...

LOL. No. If it doesn't pay...
I don't know the station. I was told by someone else she saw it in the tabloids but I'm going to have to do some research to remember where I heard it. It does seem out of character for Kate, but she said her sister, and now Gina (Steve's wife) are stepping up to nanny duties the last two LA trips. Curious.

Thanks for your help!
